Picacho Peak offers a beautiful setting that is a perfect backdrop for dramatic sunrises and beautiful sunsets. There are hiking trails right outside the resort and plenty of views, from flora, fauna, and wildlife to sun and sky shows daily. The local area includes national parks, Pima Air & Space Museum, Sabino Canyon, Casa Grande Ruins, and more.
Picacho Peak was often used as a landmark by early explorers as early as the 17th century. The most significant Civil War battle in Arizona took place near Picacho Peak on April 15, 1862. Visitors enjoy viewing exciting mock battles that took place in Arizona and New Mexico during the Civil War. Also on display at the March reenactment are recreated military camps and living history demonstrations.
